Amanda Blake (born Beverly Louise Neill, February 20th, 1929 - August 16, 1989) was an American actress, best known for her role as the saloon proprietress with red hair "Miss Kitty Russell" on the western TV series Gunsmoke. Amanda Blake first appeared onscreen in the 1950 film "Stars in My Crown". The following year, she also appeared in the movies 'Duchess of Idaho and "Counterspy Meets Scotland Yard". After this, she got part of the drama 'Schlitz Playhouse of Stars'. The American actress was given the opportunity to appear in the 1953 films 'Lili and Sabre Jet. In the following year, she acted in a few movies, namely 'Miss Robin Crusoe' 'About Mrs. Leslie', 'A Star is Born' as well as the film 'The Adventures Of Hajji Baba'. Amanda Blake was born as Beverly Louise Neill on February 20, 1929 in Buffalo, New York, USA to parents Jesse and Louise. Claremont High School was her first school, and Pomona College was her second. The actress got wed to Don Whitman in 1954. Blake got married to Jason Day in 1964, after which the couple divorced in the following year. After divorce from Jason Day as well the American beauty tied the knot with Frank Gilbert in 1967. However, her relationship with her third husband was also only for a short time. In 1984, she was married Mark Spaeth. He died one year later. Amanda Blake, a heavy chain smoker, was diagnosed in 1977 with oral cancer. She had the surgery. She died on August 16 in 1989 in the Mercy General Hospital of California, at the age of 60.
