Tina Louise Early and personal life

 Tina Louise (nee Blacker; February 11 1934) is an American actress best recognized for her role as movie star Ginger Grant in the CBS television situation comedy Gilligan's Island. Her stage career began in the mid-1950s. She was later part of God's Little Acre a 1957 drama film. For this role she won the Golden Globe Award as New Star of the year. Louise played the lead role in The Trap and Day of the Outlaw. She was also a participant in The Wrecking Crew and The Happy Ending (1975). Louise was the only original Gilligan's Island's television show following Dawn Wells' death in 2020. Louise was born Tina Blacker in a Jewish family in New York City. Her parents separated when she was just four years old. Her mother Sylvia Horn (nee Myers) who was a model and mother to her only child. Tina's father was Joseph Blacker, a Brooklyn candy shop owner who later became an accountant was Tina. Louise is believed to have been added to her name during her senior year of high school. She had told her drama teacher that she wasn't the only girl in her class who had a middle name and she suggested it. After high school, she attended Miami University in Ohio. Louise currently resides in New York City. She is an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and a lifetime participant in the Actors Studio. Louise has been a vocal advocate for improving literacy among children. In 2007, she gave away a portion from her book When I Grow Up. In an interview from 2013 that she had been volunteering at local schools since. She is the author of three books, Sunday A Memoir (1997) and When I Grow up (2007).
