Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger was born on the
25th of April 1969, in Katy, Texas, Her mother Kjellfrid Irene (Andreassen), is
a nurse born in Norway, former and midwife of Norwegian, Kven (Finnish) as well
as Swedish descent. Emil Erich Zellweger is her father. He is a Swiss engineer.
They were have been married since 1963. Drew Zellweger was Renee's older
brother. He is a marketing executive and was born on the 15th of February 1967.
Renee was part of the drama club in high school when she began to become
fascinated by acting. She attended an acting class at University of Texas
(Austin) and began to think about acting as a profession. She was determined to
perform following her graduation, however Hollywood can be a difficult field to
break into. Renee decided not to quit Texas and auditioned in Houston for
roles. Matthew McConaughey was another Hollywood newcomer that she met filming
for Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: The Next Generation (1994). He was working on a
project at the time that Renee was intrigued by, which she auditioned for and
ultimately won the role in the movie Love and a .45 (1994) that brought her
critical acclaim that she decided to relocate to Los Angeles. Her biggest break
came when she was cast in another role in The Whole Wide World (1996). Cameron
Crowe was busy casting his next film, Jerry Maguire (1996),starring Tom Cruise.
Crowe was looking at actresses such as Cameron Diaz, Bridget Fonda, Winona
Ryder, and Marisa Tomei. He was enthralled when he was introduced to
Zellweger's role in The Whole Wide World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger to
ensure that the actor was in fact Dorothy Boyd. After following her success in
a few independent films, Renee felt confident enough for her return to the
large-budget Hollywood film industry. Meryl Streep played her in One True Thing
(1998). She was also in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) in a role opposite
Jim Carrey and shortly after began dating Carrey. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)
as the main role.
